Mix up your feed for 2018 with our edit of the best inspirational beauty Instagrammers.

Have you noticed your Instagram feed looking all a bit samey recently? Endless faces with poreless skin, supersize lips, extreme contouring and eye looks that’d mean you’d have to get up two hours early to perfect? Us too.

If this stream of identikit perfection is giving you a little bit of Insta-fatigue it might be time to add some new faces to your list. With social media increasingly linked to self-esteem issues, Facebook recently admitted that passive consumption of social media can have a harmful effect on our sense of self-worth and Instagram has ranked the worst for young people’s mental health in a poll by the Royal Society of Public Health. Adding a mix of beauty inspiration that deviates from the norm can only be a good thing.

With that in mind, we’ve compiled our edit of the people to follow in 2018 that are doing something a little different with beauty, from real-girl ways to experiment and makeup ideas you might not have seen before to no-filter honesty, each one is a guaranteed feel-good fix for your feed.

If you’re stuck in a make-up rut and Instagram’s elaborate tutorials leave you exhausted, you need ultra-cool make-up artist Katie Jane Hughes. Her feed is a riot of mood-boosting colours, textures and - most importantly - looks that you don’t need to be a #MUA to master.

If you’ve ever struggled to find a foundation that fits your skin tone, head straight on over to Nyma Tang’s feed. Along with her brilliant Youtube series, The Darkest Shade, Tang delivers honest, no-holds-barred reviews of new beauty launches, calling out the brands whose shade ranges still don’t deliver.

You won’t find any filters or facetuning on this less-is-more beauty feed, although founder Elle’s all-natural eyebrows are deserving of a second glance. Tune into this skincare enthusiast’s stories for well-informed ingredient breakdowns, and let her foundation-free selfies inspire you to let your skin breathe.

As an official insider for Asos’s Face + Body line, blogger Lesley knows a thing or two about the best beauty buys. Her feed is a goldmine of make-up inspiration, but you’r really here for her flawless hairstyles.

Amena Khan has come a long way since her debut Youtube post in 2009, (a hijab tutorial intended only for her friends.) She’s now part of the L’Oreal Glam Squad, co-founder of the inclusive beauty brand Ardere cosmetics, and the face behind one of the most endearing Insta feeds around.

This feed is essentially a blockbuster collection of unexpected, inspiring eye looks. If you need a little nudging out of the neutral arena, this one’s for you. Just the thing to lift you out of a make-up rut.

You’ve probably already heard of Lisa Potter Dixon – she’s the head make-up artist at Benefit Cosmetics. But what you may not yet know about is her brilliant #learnwithlisa Insta Stories series, where she talks through make-up looks easy enough for a total novice to recreate.

Run by make-up artist and photographer Robin Black, Beauty is Boring is like the ultimate make-up inspiration bible. Forget homogenous looks of cut-crease liner and plumped-up pouts - instead, head here for the kind of cool editorial looks you won’t find anywhere else.
