Born between the dates 23 October to 21 November, Scorpios are best known for inner strength and heightened emotionality. Big feelers, Scorpios are highly in touch with their inner sensitivity, but they know how to put on a strong front, too. A water sign ruled by Pluto, Scorpios can be one of the most mysterious signs in the zodiac.

We spoke to astrologist Agne Aurelia to find out everything about the typical Scorpio personality and how these characteristics play into a Scorpio’s weaknesses, love life, career and friendships. 

What is the personality of a Scorpio?

Scorpio is a water sign, making it linked to emotion, spirituality and intuition. “Magnetic, enigmatic and intense, these water signs have tremendous regenerative abilities and can withstand even the harshest challenges,” says Aurelia. “They know how to inspire others to find power within.” 

She adds: “Ruled by Pluto planet of Power, Death and Rebirth Scorpios are like human lie detectors.”

Sometimes, all of this can become a little intense. “An undeveloped Scorpio can be overly intense, manipulative or constantly living in a survival mode,” she concludes.

Passion

Scorpios are all about the passion. You’ll rarely find a Scorpio who isn’t deeply emotionally connected to what matters to them. When they are interested in something, they throw all of their passion behind it.

Determination

Fiercely determined, Scorpios never give up on what matters to them. They are steadfast and strong with their friends and their goals alike.

Mysterious

Scorpios can often come across as enigmatic and mysterious when you first meet them. They can sometimes appear to present a veil to the world around them. At the same time, their mysterious natures can draw people in and make them extra intriguing. 

Intuitive

Scorpios have great intuition. They are in touch with their emotions and often make decisions based on deep gut instincts rather than cold logic. 

What are the weaknesses of Scorpio?

Sometimes, Scorpios better traits can become negative when they aren’t balanced out or managed well. Here are some of the so-called weaknesses of the Scorpio star sign.

Possessiveness

When Scorpios let their passion get the better of them, it can sometimes come out in possessiveness. When Scorpios feel overwhelming passion in a relationship, for instance, they might seem to be possessive over that person in an attempt to hold onto them.

Stubborn

Sometimes, the determination of a Scorpio can veer into stubbornness. Scorpios don’t like being told what they can and can’t do and will dig their heels in when they don’t get their way.

Manipulative

Driven by passion and determination, Scorpios occasionally use manipulation tactics to get what they want.

What are Scorpio love traits?

When a Scorpio falls in love, they fall hard. Their relationships can be intense and all-consuming. “Scorpio is the sign that rules intimacy and they seek for passion-fuelled relationships and total loyalty,” says Aurelia. “Scorpios will seek someone they have great chemistry with, but also who will stand by their side through thick and thin.” In some cases, Scorpios can become obsessive and manipulative with their partners when their passion becomes too powerful. So, Scorpios sometimes have to approach relationships with an added awareness of how intense their romantic feelings can become.

What do Scorpios look for in friendships?

Scorpios don’t always make friends quickly, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be excellent friends once you know them.

“Scorpios take time to warm up to people and might even test you,” says Aurelia. “But once you have won their trust, they will have your back no matter what.” 

The number one trait they seek from their friends is loyalty. They also look for depth. “Scorpios are far from superficial and surround themselves with people who are deeply passionate about life,” she adds. “Someone with interests in psychology, occult and magic will get along with Scorpio just fine.”

What should Scorpios look for in a career?

Although Scorpios are typically associated with emotion and passion, they also make very practical businesspeople.

“Scorpios are great investors, with great business sense,” says Aurelia. “They know how to manage after other people’s resources and can be found in finances.” 

On the other hand, their natural passion also makes them well-suited to roles related to the human mind. “They often choose a career in mental health professions, such as therapist, psychiatrist and even Tarot Readers,” she says.

Scorpio compatibility

Scorpios have a natural connection with other water signs. “Other Water babies Pisces and Cancers understand Scorpios deep need to connect,” says Aurelia.

She adds, “Taurus give Scorpios much needed loyalty and can teach them how to relax into the present moment.” 

Then, there’s their “ride of die” Capricorn. Says Aurelia, “They both bond over vulnerable nature hidden under the tough exteriors.”
