The full moon in Aquarius takes place on 19 August. Here, an expert astrologer explains what we can expect from it…

August is certainly a busy month for lunar events. The new moon in Leo was marked on 4 August and marked the start of Mercury retrograde – which runs until 28 August.

And now, on 19 August, we can expect the full moon in Aquarius. According to the interactive tarot and psychic reading platform Tarotoo: “This lunar event occurs when the moon has moved in its orbit – causing the earth to fall between the moon and the sun – and experts believe it signals a time for change and new beginnings.”

But, how much do you know about the full moon in Aquarius and what it might mean for you? Here, astrologer Inbaal Honigman reveals everything you need to know about this cosmic event and what star signs will be most affected.

When is the full moon in Aquarius?

The full moon in Aquarius will take place today, 19 August. “This sign is a socially conscious, humanitarian one that cares for those who struggle. It is a full moon that will benefit people and give them hope and a chance to get ahead,” says Honigman.

Is the full moon in Aquarius a supermoon?

“August’s full moon will be a supermoon this year,” explains Honigman. This means it will be larger and brighter in appearance than a regular full moon.

What signs will be most affected by the full moon in Aquarius?

According to Honigman, the following three signs will experience the greatest impact during the full moon:

Aquarius

“This full moon will take place in the sign of Aquarius, so those born under the sign will feel the most impact,” explains Honigman. “A full moon is a time of prophetic dreams, and Aquarians are spiritually gifted, so their dreams will be meaningful and memorable. It’s a good idea for Aquarians to keep a dream diary; those visions may reveal what lies ahead for them.”

Scorpio

Honigman also explains that Scorpios will be impacted by this full moon. “Scorpio is ruled by the planet Pluto, which is also in Aquarius on the day of the full moon, creating a special bond between the cosmic event and the star sign,” she says. “Pluto is a planet of transformation, so it will bring change right up to Scorpio’s door. This change could be around Scorpio’s self-expression and interest in others. Scorpio will be moved to heal the world, too, whether they’re tempted to join a political movement or sign up for a charity race.”

Virgo

The final sign that will feel the greatest effects on this full moon is Virgo. “Virgo’s link with the full moon this August comes courtesy of its planetary ruler, Mercury,” Honigman says. “This planet is exactly opposite the moon on the day of fullness, meaning Virgo will be trying to live life and ignore it. But Mercury also happens to be in retrograde, so any plans made will be met with resistance. The Mercury retrograde drags the past into the present, meaning that exes and old work colleagues will turn up unexpectedly. The illuminating light of the full moon uncovers old secrets too, so those people from the past will be sharing some exciting information.”
