To coincide with our big high street issue, this week our lunchtime masterclass is with Jane Shepherdson - the woman who is credited with making the great British high street what it is today.
Jane Shepherdson MBE was responsible for turning Topshop from just another high street store into the covetable, cult brand it is today. After transforming Topshop into the label beloved of fashion editors, socialites and celebrities and supporting the initiatives to bring up and coming designers to a new audience through accessible diffusion lines, she turned her attention to another bastion of the great British high street: Whistles.
Now as CEO at Whistles she’s working her magic all over again, giving women beautiful, wearable clothes that are made to last. If there’s anyone who understands what we want to buy, and why, and what makes Britain’s high street the best in the world, it’s Jane Shepherdson.
