A new kind of high-heel is challenging beauty ideals.
Created by Dutch shoe designer René van den Berg and South African Leanie van der Vyver, a graduate from Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam , the front-heeled platforms are about challenging current ideals by "inflicting an unexpected new beauty standard."
The model's feet are on a 90 degree angle, forcing her shins forward by 45 degrees, in the bizarre 'Scary Beautiful' heels

Sitting down really is the only option
A statement from the designers explaining the project, says: "Humans are playing God by physically and metaphorically perfecting themselves.
"Beauty is currently at an all time climax and with this project I explore what lies beyond perfection. Scary Beautiful challenges current beauty ideals by inflicting an unexpected new beauty standard."
