Princess Beatrice wore her hair in a glitter parting and now we want a glitter parting

The princess hit up Wilderness festival last weekend – and we’ve got the low-down on her coveted glitter hair.

Whether it’s investing in Meghan Markle’s sustainable shoes or experimenting with the colour clash trend like Kate Middleton, the royal family continues to prove a constant source of inspiration for many of us.

Now, though, it’s Princess Beatrice’s turn to be a source of beauty inspiration, thanks to the sparkly, braided hairstyle she wore at Wilderness festival last weekend.

While she was at the festival, which was held at Aynhoe Park, she stopped by the Josh Wood Colour pop-up, where the team – who’re usually based in West London – set up shop backstage, and styled her hair along with the likes of Sam Smith (who had a glitter beard no less) and Laura Whitmore.

The team served up looks inspired by their surroundings, including river waves, backstage braids, Robyn rings (in honour of Josh’s favourite pop star @robynkonichiwa) and floral ‘Cornbury crowns’.

In keeping with true festival style, Beatrice went for a sparkly, braided number that we are now more than desperate to copy.

Adam Embleton, stylist at Josh Wood Colour, is the man behind the look. Speaking exclusively to Stylist, he said, “For Princess Beatrice, we wanted to create a gorgeous, natural look, inspired by the setting but with a bit of festival flare.”

“First, I plaited two Dutch braids on the top of her head, and ended them with a bun,” he explained.

“Then I used Redken’s Windblown Dry Finishing Spray, £13.50 to add some grit to the braids and to give volume and texture in the hair - plus it works as a brilliant base for the glitter.”

The sparkly paste was made by hand using a mix of biodegradable glitter and Redken Velvet Gelatine, £18.50, and Embleton applied it to the partings with a brush.

“Finally, I tonged the rest of the hair to get a tousled ‘river wave’ look, which was perfect for Wilderness,” said Embleton. And if you want to accentuate the look, spray more dry texture spray in.

Et voilà, that’s all it takes to re-create what is, potentially, the most effective festival hair look we’ve seen in a while.

If it’s good enough for an actual princess then it’s good enough for us.
